GM everyone. We'd like to give you an update on PROOF of Conference.
As you know, in the world of NFTs, timing is everything. And today, it’s time for us to recognize that right now isn’t the right time for the PROOF of Conference.
Whenever we produce media that educates and puts a spotlight on artists, like with our podcasts and Grails project, we do so with an extremely high bar.
In dreaming up what would be possible for PROOF of Conference, we wanted to set a new standard for what an NFT conference could be.
After several weeks of sales data, speaking with potential sponsors, and talking to community members, it's clear that there is considerably less interest than anticipated for an event like this right now.
We didn’t take this decision lightly, nor did we make it quickly; we have spent considerable time pouring over all the alternatives - everything from a smaller venue at a different location, reducing the scope of the event and lowering the ticket pricing, and even converting it to virtual-only - but ultimately canceling the conference this year was the best choice.
What does this mean?
Tickets can no longer be purchased, and we have ETH refunds coming for tickets, upgrades, and any related transaction fees being processed right now—these should be in the original wallets within the next few hours.
What about travel?
We've worked with our partners, and all hotels booked using our half-priced discounts are fully refundable. For those who booked through our rates and still plan on being in LA despite the conference cancellation, please contact conference@proof.xyz and we will help with rebookings. For airfare and other accommodations, we realize there may be some cancellation fees. We have a claim page for people to submit non-refundable flight cancellations.
Now we know this is a lot of information, so we have updated proof.xyz/poc with all the relevant information and links.
Now there is a silver lining here…
Throwing this conference was a major lift, with many of our staff dedicated to pulling this off. Now, instead of using our time to put on the event, we’re using it to focus back in on what’s most important, the PROOF and Moonbirds ecosystem – that is, delivering products, art, and connection to all of you.
I’ve said this recently on Twitter, and I want to reiterate it here again, this is our year of focus and execution.
And on that note, on March 2nd, we will be giving you a holistic PROOF and Moonbirds update on all our active initiatives. The exact time will be announced in the coming days.
Lastly, although we know this news is disappointing to many of you, especially those that have experienced the advantages of connecting with the community through PROOF events, this is not a permanent cancelation of our events. Expect to see smaller focused events this year until market interest warrants a larger conference.
Obviously, a change like this brings up many questions – and we want to address them, so please take a moment to get in touch with us here.
We sincerely and deeply apologize to you all for this disappointment and inconvenience.
Sincerely,
Kevin & Team PROOF
